ABIFF interviews – Radu Nicolae

Radu Nicolae comes to the weekly ABIFF interviews to tell us more about his experience as a producer, focusing on “Mercy Street” (2016), the first Romanian 3D animated feature film for children made after the December 1989 revolution.

He started his film career as a child, playing the lead role in the children’s adventure series “White Rocket” (1984).
In 2007 he produced the film “The rest is silence”, directed by Nae Caramfil, considered the most expensive film ever made in Romania.

In addition to being a producer, Radu Nicolae wrote and directed in 2011 the film “The Gift”, a drama about the world of finance based on real events.

Currently, as a director, he is preparing 2 animated short films about football and bullying, which will be presented briefly in the ABIFF interview.

The event is organized by the ABI-Foundation within the project “Bucharest International Animation Film Festival – ABIFF”, funded by the EEA Grants 2014-2021 under the RO-CULTURE Program, the call “Strengthening cultural entrepreneurship and audience and public development” (session 1).
